Ticket aid for autistic kids

Lothian Buses is to issue free day tickets to autistic children to encourage independent travel.

The bus firm’s move is part of its support for its charity of the year, the Lothian Autistic Society.

Michelle Keenan, director of the society, said: “Our volunteers are now able to take the kids on buses more regularly and use this experience to build their confidence. We teach the kids how to speak to the driver, get seated, negotiate getting off and ask for help, if they need it.”
