Top architect eyes gallery

ONE of Scotland’s best-known architects has been chosen to lead a multi-million-pound transformation of the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh.

Malcolm Fraser, creator of Dance Base and the Scottish Storytelling Centre, will author a report examining how the gallery’s ageing exhibition spaces could be revamped.

The announcement comes as the recently refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery is officially re-opened by the Queen today.

A gallery insider said: “This was always going to be the next priority after the portrait gallery.”
