Work is expected to be completed on the night of Friday, June 12.

Drivers are being warned that a diversion route will be in place during the carriageway closures which will add an extra mile and six minutes to their journey.

The signed diversion route will direct traffic to the M9 northbound to Newbridge Roundabout, onto the A8 eastbound to Gogar Roundabout before joining the A720 City Bypass eastbound.

The refsurfacing work is being carried out by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M8, while making use of sustainable techniques to minimise the environmental impact of the works.

“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption as far possible.

“If you need to use this route during overnight carriageway closures, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.”
