Drainage works on motorway just outside Edinburgh will lead to lane closures motorists warned
Motorists have been warned that drainage works on a motorway just outside Edinburgh will lead to lane closures in the coming weeks.
A series of overnight lane closures is scheduled on the M8 between Junctions 2 and 3, to allow trunk road operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out drainage construction works on the motorway near Newhouses Road south of Broxburn in West Lothian.
Lane closures will be in place between 8.30pm and 6am each night from Monday, January 26 to Tuesday, February 24, and from Monday, March 9 to Tuesday, March 17.
The hard shoulders will also be closed 24 hours a day from January 26 until March 2. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

The drainage scheme will involve pipe repairs and replacement where required, as well as camera surveys and jetting of channels over approximately two kilometres of both the westbound and eastbound carriageways. Concrete canvas will also be installed in sections of the ditch to restore effective drainage.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These drainage works will improve safety for motorists using the M8.
“Lane closures are essential for the safety of road users and the workforce, however we’ve scheduled these at night to minimise disruption.
“These are just some of the improvements being carried out on this section of the motorway – the works will be co-ordinated with landscaping and streetlighting works being carried out simultaneously.”
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on their website.
