Edinburgh road closed in both directions due to ongoing medical incident now re-open

Early morning Edinburgh road closure now over

An Edinburgh road was closed in both directions due to an ongoing medical incident this morning.

Restalrig Road was closed in both directions at the junction with Cornhill Terrace, near Leith Links, with emergency services on the scene from around 9am. However, the road re-opened for northbound traffic at around 11am, with the southbound lane still closed due to roadworks at East Hermitage Place.

However, the AA Traffic News’s live map of Edinburgh shows this afternoon that the heavy traffic at the northern end of Restalrig Road reported this morning due to the temporary closure has now cleared.

This emergency road closure led to bus diversions this morning, affecting Lothian services the 34 and the 49.

The 34 service was diverted via Sleigh Drive, Lochend Road, Duke Street, Henderson Street and The Shore northbound, and southbound via East Hermitage Place, Lochend Road and Sleigh Drive until the road re-opened.
