Edinburgh thunderstorms and flood risk RECAP: Cars stranded in floodwater - City centre roads gridlocked - Church evacuated

Traffic across Edinburgh ground to a halt this evening due to thunderstorms which brought flooding across the city.

Lightning and flooding had hit Edinburgh this afternoon.

Cars were stranded in floodwater at a roundabout near Edinburgh Airport, the city centre was gridlocked, and St Cuthbert's Church was evacuated during a Fringe show because of a suspected lightning strike.
