THE world-famous Flying Scotsman locomotive is to go on display to the public.

It will be shown for one day only at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway on Monday, May 16.

The attraction will enjoy a day’s break at the heritage railway, which also houses Scotland’s largest railway museum, during a series of trips being planned around the country.

Its return to the tracks comes after a £4.2 million restoration.

Vic Michel, chairman of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society, which operates Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway and the Museum of Scottish Railways, said: “We are all excited to welcome Flying Scotsman to our railway. It is an absolute privilege to be able to open our doors to the people of Scotland to meet the people’s locomotive.”
