Motorcyclist, 50, in hospital after collision with car in Craigmillar

A 50-year-old male motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Craigmillar.

The crash happened at the Craigmillar crossroads, where Niddrie Mains Road meets Duddingston Road West, at about 6:20pm.

A police spokesman said the motorcyclist was taken to hospital by road ambulance but details of injuries are not known at this stage.

However, the spokesman said the man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The spokesman said Peffermill Road was initially closed westbound towards Cameron Toll but reopened after about 10 minutes.

The council-run Edinburgh Travel News twitter account says there have been some traffic delays westbound on Niddrie Mains Road.
