Edinburgh Trams said "significant surface water" at the airport station was causing the disruption.

A spokeswoman for Edinburgh Trams said: "“With the ongoing severe weather conditions of Storm Ciara and last night’s heavy rainfall we are currently running between York Place and Gyle. There is significant surface water at the Airport Tram Stop and we are currently working to disperse this.

"When we have assessed the track we will be able to advise when full route running will recommence. We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this has caused.”

Ticket acceptance is in place with Lothian buses for those needing to travel between the Gyle and the Airport.
