Three seriously injured in East Lothian road smash

POLICE have launched an investigation after two men and a teenage girl were left with 'life-changing' injuries after their BMW collided with a bus.

The incident, which happened at about 12.30pm yesterday at the Bankton Roundabout near Prestonpans, saw the three sustain “serious injuries” following the horror smash.

The 16-year-old girl had to be cut out of the car by firefighters before being rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment – alongside the two men, aged 18 and 23.

It is understood there were no passengers on the Lothian bus at the time of the incident, and the bus driver was uninjured.

A police spokeswoman said: “The collision happened around 12.30pm and involved a white BMW and a Lothian bus.

“The three occupants of the BMW – two males aged 18 and 23 and a female aged 16 – sustained serious injuries and have been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening but could be life-changing.

“Inquiries are on-going into the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101.”
