Trams services to Edinburgh Airport resumed following crash near airport earlier this morning

Trams to and from Edinburgh Airport have resumed following a crash earlier this morning (March 11).

Passengers were unable to reach the airport via the usual Edinburgh Tram services after the company confirmed that service had been suspended following a reported road traffic accident near Edinburgh Airport.

Edinburgh Trams had originally suspended all services before confirming that trams would only be travelling between Newhaven and Gyle Centre, with trams tickets being accepted by Lothian Buses for onward travel to Edinburgh Airport.

It has now been confirmed that all tram services have fully resumed, servicing stations between Newhaven and Edinburgh Airport as normal.

Edinburgh Trams said in an update: “Following [a] road traffic incident at the airport, full tram services have resumed.

“Some extended wait times may still occur while we return to normal frequency.”

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment on the earlier road traffic accident.
