Tributes have been paid to a young couple who were killed in a horror crash on their way home from holiday.

Jenna Tindall, 29, and her partner, Marc Edwards, 26, died in the accident on the outskirts of the Capital in the early hours of Friday morning.

Jenna’s daughter, Abbie, six, was pulled from the wreckage of the car by family friend Nickie Brown.

The pair had just returned from holiday in Lanzarote and were travelling home from Newcastle Airport to Dundee on the A68 when the incident happened.

Behind them in a second car were Nickie, partner Zander and their daughter, Grace – with whom they had been on holiday.

Yesterday, Jenna’s parents, Lois and Frank Tindall, said they were grateful to Ms Brown for rescuing their granddaughter.

Lois said: “This has been a nightmare but if there is any consolation that can be drawn it is that Jenna and Marc have gone together.

“Marc and Jenna had been together for a year and were a devoted couple. It is the happiest I had ever seen Jenna.

“At least they are together – if one had been left behind without the other they would have been completely heartbroken.”

She added: “The two families had been on holiday together and had a great time. Jenna was a lovely daughter and was a hard-working and loving mother.

“Every penny she earned went on Abbie. She was always cheery and happy, and she had found her soulmate in Marc.”

Marc’s mother, Gillian, 57, said today that everything was very unreal.

She said: “Marc was just my lovely, happy wee boy. He was always dancing and singing and really happy, and he would have done anything for anybody.

“He had a brilliant circle of friends and they have all been in touch to say how much they are going to miss him.

“Not long before the accident, Marc had phoned me to say they were back in the country.

“He said they had a fantastic holiday and they would see us soon. Never for one minute did I think we would never see them again.”

Fundraising pages have been set up to assist the families of Jenna and Marc.

The page dedicated to Mark Edwards has raised £3110 and the page dedicated to the family of Jenna had raised £1675, smashing their respective targets.

Jenna and Marc were pronounced dead at the scene while another man was taken to hospital after the three-vehicle crash.

A statement of support appearing online said: “Obviously the whole of Dundee community is saddened by the loss of two absolute brilliant people.

“I would just like to help support the Tindalls and try make this as easy as possible for the family and to put away a little something for Abbie.

“I know this won’t change the tragic situation but it will show how much her mum was loved. Please donate no matter how big or small. It means the world and will be such a blessing.”

A tribute to Marc from his friends described him as “the most genuine amazing guy who will be sorely missed”.
