The council-run Edinburgh Travel News twitter account said the A701 road was closed at Mauricewood Road due to the collision. It later tweeted to say the road had reopened at 2:10pm.

A notice from Lothian buses said earlier this afternoon that, due to the road closure, the No.37,47,140 and x15 services were unable to serve Penicuik and are instead terminated at Gowkley Mos Roundabout until further notice.

Stagecoach has also tweeted that its 101 and 102 services were unable to service Penicuik in both directions due to the accident.
