A985: Man who died in early morning crash on Fife trunk road, named

A driver who died after a crash on a road in Fife has been named by police.

Frank MacFarlane, from Rosyth, died after the one-vehicle crash on the A985 between Cairneyhill and Kincardine around 5.35am on Friday, July 31.

His blue BMW 3 Series left the road and hit a wall.

Mr MacFarlane, 61, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died the following day.

Sergeant Alastair Purvis, of Fife Road Policing, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr MacFarlane at this difficult time.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing. We would urge anybody who was driving on the road and may have dashcam footage or witnessed the incident to contact police."
