A985: Man who died in early morning crash on Fife trunk road, named

Frank MacFarlane died on the road after a crash on Friday.

The accident took place on the A985 between Cairneyhill and Kincardine .

A driver who died after a crash on a road in Fife has been named by police.

Frank MacFarlane, from Rosyth, died after the one-vehicle crash on the A985 between Cairneyhill and Kincardine around 5.35am on Friday, July 31.

His blue BMW 3 Series left the road and hit a wall.

Mr MacFarlane, 61, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died the following day.

Sergeant Alastair Purvis, of Fife Road Policing, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr MacFarlane at this difficult time.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing. We would urge anybody who was driving on the road and may have dashcam footage or witnessed the incident to contact police."

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0492 of July 31.
