Broken truck stopped in Livingston after towing car hanging off the edge of its back

Road policing officers in Livingston stopped a recovery truck after it was caught driving with a broken winch and its towed car was not tied down.

The recovery truck was stopped by the road policing officers last night, Monday, March 1, near Whitburn, with the car looking as if it was falling off the vehicle.

The officers then issued a conditional offer for dangerous load.

As well as towing a red car which was not tied down and hung off the vehicle in a precarious way, the recovery truck was also travelling with a broken winch.

Officers commented that the vehicle was prevented from being driven until the car was removed.

A Road Policing Scotland Spokesperson said: “The winch broke and the driver felt it was ok to transport a car in this position without it being tied down."

"Issued a conditional offer for dangerous load.

"Vehicle prevented from being driven until vehicle removed.”
