Buses replace trains as passengers warned to check before travelling due to engineering work

Buses will replace trains today due to engineering work between Edinburgh and Inverkeithing, disrupting journeys between Fife and the Capital.

Passengers have been warned to check before travelling in order to avoid the worst of the disruption.

The work will see several routes replaced by buses and diversions in place, with the majority of services between Edinburgh and Fife affected by the work.

ScotRail services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen or Inverness will be diverted via Stirling and will not call at Inverkeithing or Leuchars, with trains retimed and potentially running earlier or later than usual.

Buses will also replace services between Edinburgh and Dundee and Edinburgh and Glenrothes with Thornton, while a minibus will replace services between North Queensferry and Dalmeny.

LNER services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen will be diverted and will not call at Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy or Leuchars with a bus replacement service in operation.

Buses will also replace CrossCountry services between Edinburgh and Dundee.
