Edinburgh Airport: New flights from Scotland to Latvia announced
A new flight route due to commence in June has been announced by airBaltic from Edinburgh Airport to the Latvian capital of Riga.
It’s the Latvian airline’s first route from Edinburgh and it will operate two flights per week to Riga on an Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
The route is scheduled to begin on June 4, 2021, and will operate on Mondays and Fridays.
AirBaltic already offers flights between Riga and Aberdeen, as well as London and Manchester, and the Chief Executive Officer, Martin Gauss, said they are “delighted” to announce its second destination in Scotland.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, said: “We are always looking to add new routes and we are excited to be welcoming airBaltic to Edinburgh Airport.
“We know people are eager to travel when conditions allow and we want to be able to offer some excitement through new destinations, and Riga is definitely one for people to check out and experience one of the finest cities in the Baltics.”
