Edinburgh City Bypass crash: car comes off road and 'crashes into tree'

Traffic on the Edinburgh City Bypass has been disrupted following reports of a crash.

According to a witness, a car left the road, near Wester Hailes, and crashed into a tree at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

Pictures of the scene show emergency services in attendance and a team of people handling a damaged tree.

Traffic watchdog Traffic Scotland posted about a crash on the A720 shorty after it happened warning motorists in the area to drive carefully.

At 4.20pm it confirmed the incident has been cleared and traffic is “coping well.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
