Edinburgh power cut: Here are the areas currently without electricity

Traffic lights have turned off amid a power cut in the west of Edinburgh.

EH11 and EH14 experienced a loss of power from about 3.15pm on Thursday.

According to Edinburgh resident Prof Cair MacPhee, the traffic lights at Robbie Avenue went off at about 3.30pm and properties in the Slateford Road and surrounding streets may experience a temporary loss of power.

The full list of postcodes affected is: EH11, EH111GY, EH111QR, EH111QU, EH111QX, EH141NP

A spokesman from SP Energy Networks said engineers are on site currently investigating the cause of the fault and the power is estimated to be back on my 6.30pm.

A statement on SP Energy’s website reads: “There is a power cut in the EH11 and EH14 postcode areas of Edinburgh , affecting properties in Slateford Road and surrounding streets.

"We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 3:15pm.

"Our engineers have arrived at Waddies Hermand Street Substation and are investigating the cause of the fault. Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 6:30pm .

"We will update this message if this information changes. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. This message was updated at 3:47pm Thursday 20th May 2021.”
