Edinburgh roadworks: travel disruption expected due to bus diversions, road closures and temporary traffic lights

This is a comprehensive list of all of the road closures due to start from Monday 9 March until Sunday 15 March according to the City of Edinburgh Council website.

Cowgatehead, 09 March to 13 March

Three way temporary traffic lights at Cowgate with the north footway closed due to a sewer connection. Begins 7am

St Giles’ Street, 09 March to 17 April

St Giles’ Street and West Parliament Square will be closed from 7:30am to 5pm each week day.

Durham Avenue, 09 March to 13 March

Rolling programme lane closures at Durham Gardens North and into Durham Square, with parking restrictions and temporary traffic lights. This is due to a network upgrade. Begins 8am.

Albert Terrace, 09 March to 11 April

Phased road closures: Albert Terrace, Abbotsford Park, Morningside Place and Colinton Road between Napier Road and Merchiston Avenue due to the Abbotsford area gas main renewal. Begins 8am.

Pentland View, 09 March to 20 March

Rolling programme with lane and parking restrictions as signed, with Pentland Hills closed in its entirety, plus Dolphin Avenue, Forth View Road and Pentland Avenue. This is due to the installation of fibre optic cabling. Begins 8am

Priestfield Road, 09 March to 17 April

Prestonfield area affected due to the installation of fibre optic cabling on: Cameron House Avenue, Clearburn Road, King’s Meadow, Priestfield Avenue/Gardens/Crescent/Road, Peffermill Road and Prestonfield Avenue. Lane and parking restrictions and temporary traffic lights when required. The one way order on Cameron House Avenue will also be suspended. Begins 8am.

Glenogle Road, 09 March to 13 March

Road closed between Glenogle Place and Reid Terrace, except for local access. This is due to cable work via carriageway manholes. Begins 9am.

Lower Granton Road, 09 March to 13 March

Footpath at McKelvie Parade closed, with an alternative route via the adjacent footway. This is due to sea wall maintenance. Begins 9am

Station Road, 09 March to 11 March

Three way temporary traffic lights at Bankhead Grove and Forth Terrace, with no right turns into Bankhead Grove - diversions via Ashburnam Loan roundabout and return. This is due to cable work via carriageway manholes. Begins 9:30am

Magdala Crescent, 09 March 13 March

Road closed to northbound traffic at Haymarket Terrace due to the investigation into carriageway subsidence. Begins 9:30am

Colinton Road, 09 March to 23 March

Eastbound lane closure at Polwarth Terrace to accomodate a temporary walkway, with three way traffic lights on Sunday 15 March. This is due to the replacement of telecoms cabinet and pole. Begins 9:30am

Oxgangs Road, 09 March to 13 March

Two way temporary traffic lights at Fairmile Avenue, with Fairmile Avenue itself closed. This is due to valve works for Scottish Water. Begins 9:30am

M9 Motorway, 09 March to 14 March

Slip to northbound M90 closed 8pm to 6am for five nights, diverted via M9 J3 and return. This is due to bridge joint repairs. Begins 8pm

South St Andrew Street, 09 March to 13 March

Road closed between St Andrew Square and Meuse Lane from midnight to 4m for four nights due to West Register Street development. Begins midnight

Rose Street North Lane, 10 March to 13 March

West section between Hanover Street and South St David Street closed due to service connection. Begins 9am

Lanark Road, 10 March to 11 March

Two way temporary traffic lights at Water of Leith visitor centre due to overnight works installing and repairing of traffic detection loops. Begins 7pm

Niddrie Mill Drive, 11 March 15 March

Three way temporary traffic lights at Niddrie Mill Grove due to network upgrades. Begins 8am

Pleasance, 11 March to 13 March

Two way temporary traffic lights between Gilmour Street and East Crosscauseway due to cabling and ducting installation. Begins 9:30am

Hillhouse Road, 11 March to 13 March

Westbound lane closures between Corbiehill Road to Marchfield Bank Lane due to carriageway resurfacing and gully repairs. Begins 9:30am

Nicolson Street, 12 March to 13 March

Temporary traffic lights at West Richmond Street due to overnight works installing and repairing traffic detection loops. Begins 7pm

Newcraighall Drive, 13 March to 26 March

Rolling programme between Park View and Park Terrace with lane restrictions and Stop/Go boards when required. North and South sections of Park Terrace closed as required. This is due to a network upgrade. Begins 9:30am

Ocean Drive, 13 March to 30 September

Between roundabouts and Ocean Terminal there will be tram network construction which means bus diversions will be taking place. Northbound side closed and two way traffic on southbound side. Begins 12pm

George Street, 13 March to 14 March

Road closed to eastbound traffic from Hanover Street to North St David Street due to overnight crane works. Begins 7pm

Glenlockhart Road, 14 March to 15 March

Lane closure from Glenlockhart Road into westbound Colinton Road due to the clearing of blocked cable ducts. Begins 9am

Easter Road, 14 March

Local road closures and restrictions due to Hibs versus St Johnstone playing at Easter Road Stadium. Begins 2pm

West Approach Road, 15 March

Road closed between slip lane at Dundee Street and Westfield Road due to overnight bridge maintenance. Begins midnight until 8am

Shandon Place, 15 March

Two way temporary traffic lights at Shandon Street, with Shandon Street and Merchiston Grove closed due to cabling works. Begins 9:30am

Ferniehill Drive, 15 March to 16 March

Three way temporary traffic lights at Gilmerton Crossroads, with Ferniehill Drive closed due to multiple ironworks repairs. Begins 9:30am
