Edinburgh traffic: Drivers urged to take care in wet conditions as M8 crash at Hermiston Gait causes delays

Drivers in Edinburgh are being urged to take care this morning due to surface water on the roads.

The Met Office website suggests heavy rain can be expected in the Capital until around 11am this morning.

Traffic Scotland's official twitter account shared a message shortly before 7:30am on Wednesday which read: "City of Edinburgh - Weather, Drivers in Edinburgh are advised to use caution due to surface water affecting driving conditions."

Another tweet from Traffic Scotland shortly before this also warned of delays on approach to an accident on the M8 eastbound at junction one, Hermiston Gait, as a result of one lane being blocked. The incident has since been cleared.
