Edinburgh's North Bridge will shut to all northbound traffic tonight for refurbishment work layout changes

Edinburgh's North Bridge will be closed to all northbound traffic from 7pm this evening until 5am tomorrow.

A tweet from Edinburgh Travel News, run by members of the council's roads team, said the closure will allow for alterations to the layout of the bridge refurbishment works.

A number of bus services will be diverted as a result.

Services 3, 29, 30, 31, 33 and 37 - between Nicolson Street and Princes Street will be diverted via Chambers Street, George IV Bridge, The Mound, Hanover Street, George Street and South St David Street northbound and westbound only.

Services 5, 7, 8, 14 and 49 - between Nicolson Street and Picardy Place - will be diverted via Chambers Street, George IV Bridge, The Mound, Hanover Street, Queen Street and York Place northbound only.

Leith Street will also be closed in both directions until the end of service on Sunday, to allow for a large crane to be moved at the Edinburgh St James Centre.

Services 1, 4, 19, 22, 25 and 34 - between Princes Street and Picardy Place - will be diverted via South St David Street, North St David Street and York Place in both directions. Service 19 will start and finish at Waterloo Place instead.

Services 5, 7, 8, 14 and 49 - between North Bridge and Picardy Place - will be diverted via Princes Street, South St David Street, North St David Street and York place in both directions.
