Edinburgh's York Place closes for eight weeks from today - here are the diversion routes

York Place, in Edinburgh's city centre, will be closed westbound for eight weeks while essential work is being carried out, with the closure starting today (Monday, August 17).
As part of the £1 billion Edinburgh St James project, the area is to be improved for cyclists and pedestrians.

Diversion will be in place via Broughton Street.
The closure extends in the evening to North St Andrews Street for the first five weeks.
Lesley Macinnes, Transport and Environment Convener said: “We’ve worked closely with partners to coordinate a series of works in the area so that disruption is kept to a minimum.
“Ultimately, each of these projects will deliver significant improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair-users in line with our broader ambitions for a sustainable, accessible and better-connected Capital, as well as essential maintenance to the tram network.
