Heavy congestion on M8 after two-car crash near Bathgate

Two cars have been involved in a road traffic collision this morning, leading to heavy congestion on the M8 near Bathgate in West Lothian.

Traffic Scotland said that at 6.45 am this morning a section of the busy M8 motorway, eastbound at junction 3A at Bathgate, was blocked by the collision involving two cars which was causing a heavy traffic build-up on approach.

The collision had been cleared onto the hard shoulder by 7.15am, however, traffic still remains heavy back to junction 4A near Heartlands with delays of approximately 30 minutes.

An ambulance is currently en route and police are in attendance, however, Police Scotland have suggested that it is not a ‘serious’ incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received the report at around 6.40 this morning of a two car road traffic collision and an ambulance has been called to check over those involved at the live lanes.”
