M8 crash Edinburgh: lane blocked and heavy traffic following collision

Traffic is building up near the Capital following a crash on the M8.

The collision happened at J2 at about 8am on Monday morning and is causing major traffic disruptions in the area.

The motorway’s lane 2 of 2 is blocked due to the crash which is also preventing traffic travelling to the M9 slip road leading to M8 eastbound.

Traffic watchdog Traffic Scotland reported the collision on Twitter this morning and warned motorists in the area of congestion on the A720 eastbound at Calder/Baberton.

In a message on Twitter it said: “J2 due to an RTC. Lane 2 of 2 is blocked due to an RTC - also affecting the M9 slip to M8 E/B

A720. Heavy E/B Calder - Baberton.”
