M8 Edinburgh traffic: Rush-hour crash sees drivers faced with severe delays

Two cars were said to be involved in the crash on the motorway just past Harthill westbound. The road was closed and traffic was stationary between Junction 4A (Heartlands interchange) and Junction 5 at the B7057 (Shotts / Harthill).

All lanes on the opposite side were open after traffic was held briefly, but there were delays as traffic slowed to an average 20 mph.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a crash on the M8 westbound near junction five at Harthill. The incident was reported shortly after 4pm on Monday, 17 October. The road is currently closed.”
