M8 motorway: Delays between Edinburgh and Glasgow after van catches fire

There were delays between Edinburgh and Glasgow on Friday morning after a van caught fire.

The incident occurred on the M8 near Broxburn in West Lothian.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 7.00am on Friday, July 17 to reports of a small van on fire on the M8 between junction 2 and junction 3 westbound.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene and firefighters extinguished the flames.

Traffic Scotland have confirmed that both lane are open again and traffic is moving as normal.
