Major diesel spill on Edinburgh main road causes disruption to traffic

A major diesel spill on one of the Capital’s main roads is causing traffic disruption.

A drain cover ruptured a lorry’s fuel tank as it was driving down Queensferry Road this morning.

A “significant” amount of diesel has leaked onto the road and officers are in attendance.

Police said a clean up is taking place and advise anyone driving in the area to take care.

A police spokesman said: “Queensferry Road near Clermiston Road – Officers are in attendance following a significant diesel spill after a drain cover ruptured an HGV's fuel tank. Please take caution if driving on this route (if your out on one of your essential trips). Clean up in progress.”
