Major disruption: Train services between Edinburgh and Newcastle cancelled after damage to overhead wires in Berwick-upon-Tweed

Damage to the overhead electric wires in the Berwick-upon-Tweed area has resulted in all lines being blocked.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

A limited bus service is operating between Newcastle and Edinburgh via Berwick.

Posting on Twitter, National Rail wrote: “Damage to the overhead electric wires in the #BerwickUponTweed area has resulted in all lines being blocked between Newcastle and Edinburgh.”
