‘Missing link’ work delayed

WORK to upgrade a stretch of the M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow known as the “missing link” has been delayed by four years, it has been reported.

The seven-mile stretch of Scotland’s busiest thoroughfare has long needed improvements.

But now the Scottish Government has admitted a lack of cash means the job will be put back to 2017.

Work on the section between Ballieston and Newhouse will create 8000 jobs and should cut journey times between the two cities by up to 20 minutes, experts have said.
