Queensferry Road crash: car flips on its roof in A90 collision causing traffic 'standstill'

A crash on one of the city’s busiest roads is causing major disruption to travel this morning with delays lasting up to an hour for commuters.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 7am on Wednesday morning in Queensferry Road, near to Tesco Express.

A car involved flipped on its roof the middle of the A90 during the crash, which has left motorists in the area stuck in queues all morning.

One driver caught in the travel chaos said: “Traffic on A90 is at a standstill as far as Craigiehall due to an accident on Queensferry Road.”

At about 9.45am another motorist said he was still waiting in a queue, almost three hours after the crash happened.

Traffic watchdog Edinburgh Travel News (ETN) said: “RTC ongoing Queensferry Road at Parkgrove, affecting both citybound lanes.

“Citybound queues now from Dolphington, westbound queues from Quality Street and lengthy delays on Maybury Road, Drum Brae North and Clermiston Road North.”

Lothian Buses confirmed the number 41 and 43 have been diverted due to the crash.

A police spokeswoman said: “Around 7am this morning, Wednesday, 28 October, 2020, police and emergency services were called to a two vehicle road crash on Queensferry Road, Edinburgh (near the Tesco Express).

"One car on its roof, however, all occupants are out of the cars and none required to be taken to hospital. Enquiries in to the crash are continuing.”
