No one was injured in the crash, which took place at around 4:50pm close to the Baberton junction.

Police at the scene said the cars involved caused a partial obstruction of the carriageway leading to tailbacks as far as Lothianburn.

A spokesperson for the force said at the time: “We received a report of a two-car crash on the Edinburgh City Bypass between Baberton and Calder around 4.50pm on Wednesday, 11 November.

"There are no reports of injuries.

"The vehicles are causing a partial obstruction and are waiting to be uplifted,” they added.

Traffic Scotland, which monitors the route, said both lanes of the bypass had since reopened.

It had earlier warned travellers to expect delays of between 20 and 25 minutes on the route while both cars were removed by recovery crews.
