‘Trespassing incident’ causes major delays at Edinburgh train station

A trespassing incident at an Edinburgh train station has caused major disruption to trains.

It is currently affecting ScotRail services between Edinburgh and North Berwick or Tweedbank.

National Rail have advised that all lines are currently blocked and trains at this station may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

The disruption is expected to last until 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services have officers on site

ScotRail have advised that they are currently unable to run trains between Edinburgh and Linlithgow, Edinburgh and Bathgate, Edinburgh and Kirknewton, Edinburgh and Tweedbank and Edinburgh and North Berwick.

Services from Helensburgh to Edinburgh will terminate at Bathgate and services from Edinburgh to Helensburgh start at Bathgate.

ScotRail have advised that you can use ScotRail tickets and Smartcards on the trams between Edinburgh Waverley, Haymarket, Edinburgh Park and Edinburgh Gateway in either direction and should just show your valid ticket or Smartcard to the on-tram staff.
