Watch as Scotland's busiest motorway verge is transformed with giant poppies

Three vibrant red poppies have been painted across the grass pyramids on the side of the M8, near Edinburgh in honour of the Poppy Appeal in Scotland.

Scottish Rugby Union’s Head Groundsman, Jim Dawson and Linemark UK were involved in the project which uses around 40L of red paint each year at the Pyramid Business Park, near Bathgate.

Each poppy is around 30ft in size.

The team spread out large plastic sheets with poppies on them and spray-painted their outlines on the grass verge. They then filled the flowers in with the bold trademark poppy colours-red, white and black- to create the astonishing effect that can now be seen from the motorway.

Poppy Scotland have said that the project hopes to encourage people to donate to the Poppy Appeal which provides essential support to Scotland’s Armed Forces community.

A spokesperson from Poppy Scotland said: “Huge thanks to Pyramids Business Park, LineMarkUK, Jim Dawson and Andrew Jack for helping to make this happen.”

Mr Dawson, Head Groundsman from Murrayfield, added the finishing touches to the poppies and took to Twitter congratulating the Linemark UK team for their hard work on the project. He also noted that he was ‘so proud’ of the artwork.
