TV crews set up in Edinburgh as filming on The Buccaneers series three set to begin

Filming for a period drama series is set to get under way in a historic area of Edinburgh, with crews having already been spotted setting up.

Crew members were seen on Wednesday setting up camera rigs, set scenery and props around St Stephen’s Church and Royal Circus in the Stockbridge area of the city.

Local residents received letters which explained that the roads and surrounding areas may experience disruption this week due to filming for the third season of a period drama titled ‘Debutante’, which is the working title for the Apple TV series The Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers is a period drama set in the Regency-era 1870s and follows a group of young daughter of American nouveau riche families who travel to London in hopes of integrating into English high society.

The series stars Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Matthew Broome, Josh Dylan and Christina Hendricks. It is unknown which actors will be involved in filming at St Stephen’s Church later this week.

Filming is expected to take place on Thursday, March 26, with roads in the surrounding areas closed as a result. These include North East Circus Place, Royal Circus and St Vincent Street.

In a letter to residents, production company The Forge said: “Our filming will include both interior and exterior scenes, recreating an 1800s period street with period dressing and characters arriving by horse and carriage.”
