Two architects win prizes at design awards

The Scotsman Steps, designed by Haworth Tompkins and McGregor Bowes, won the award in the Regeneration category, while S&P Architects won the Re-use of a Listed Building award for its work on the Royal Commonwealth Pool.

The prizes were presented at the Scottish Design Awards in Glasgow. The glittering ceremony, which took place in the city’s Radisson Blu Hotel, celebrates the best of Scottish architecture.

The awards were organised by marketing magazine The Drum.

A panel of judges, chaired by Jim Heverin, an associate director of Zaha Hadid Architects, considered entries in more than a dozen categories.

Gordon Young, editor of The Drum, said: “These awards attracted a massive entry from architects based in Scotland and they prove that we not only have a vibrant industry but that it is very talented as well.

“Such was the level of expertise and flair, it became a very difficult task to pick the winners in many of the categories.”
