US speedway star '˜Flying' Ryan Fisher seeks Edinburgh home

A TOP speedway motorcyclist who is making a transatlantic move from the United States to Edinburgh is asking his fans to help him find a new family pad.

Nicknamed Flying Ryan, Ryan Fisher, from California, is on the hunt for the perfect rented home for his family in Armadale, near his beloved Edinburgh Monarchs speedway track.

Ryan, 32, had joined the Monarchs in 2008 until 2010 – but he is making his return this time with his wife, Daelyn and two young children.

The racer needs a home by March 15 to ensure his stay for the season – until October – will offer his family the perfect home-from-home.

Ryan said: “Not having my family here is one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to go through.

“I am looking for a house to rent close to Armadale. I’ll be on my own at the start but then my wife Daelyn and the kids are coming over.

The motorcylist said he wants to be close to the tracks in Armadale, which is his main priority.

“We are basically just looking for a two-three bedroom house, with a garage,” he added.

Ryan and his family are seeking a furnished home – and wherever he is based there will have to be plenty of garage space.

“I will make sure my engines and machinery and everything else are up to scratch as I get ready for the new season which I’m greatly looking forward to,” he said.

He added: “I’m going to base myself in Scotland for the season. It is what works best for me. I had my happiest year when I did that before.

“Anyone who can point me in the right direction of a suitable house I’d be grateful if you’d give me a shout,” he said.

The internationally renowned racer is also running a top sandwich shop in Nevada – Woods Family Sandwiches.

“I will be going back and forth in the beginning so I can be with my family, who will stay over in Las Vegas.”

John Campbell, spokesperson for Edinburgh Monarchs, said Ryan will be back “if he does well... the year after that and so on”.

The speedway star almost quit racing after his family was evicted due to visa restrictions in Britain in 2014.

“He is very close to his family and he misses them when he is away,” John said. “It is as simple as that.”

His wife Daelyn and daughter Abby, nine, and his son, Harley, seven, are coming over in the middle of May to support him.
