The Lord Provost offered a message of support ahead of the match. He said: “Good luck on Sunday! What a nail-biting weekend it is for sports fans in the city.

“Hibernian Football Club face their 10th Scottish League Cup Final and I’m sure the many thousands of fans heading to the match against Ross County will cheer loud enough for all of us remaining in Edinburgh.

“Alan Stubbs’ side is aiming for their fourth League Cup triumph and a return to the top and on behalf of the city, I’d like to wish the Club the very best of luck.

“Whatever the result I’m sure they will do the city proud but I can promise we’ll make sure they receive a fitting celebration in the city if they bring that Cup home!”
