One man has been taken to hospital after a road collision in the Tollcross area.

A car understood to have been travelling northbound along Earl Grey Street collided into railings on the opposite side of the roadway around 7.30pm.

A cordon has been erected at Earl Grey Street between Lothian Road and Tollcross with Earl Grey Street closed in both directions.

Emergency services are currently on the scene.

One man was taken to hospital but is not thought to be seriously injured.

It’s understood that the injured man was behind the wheel of the vehicle involved in the collision.

There are no other injuries reported.

Diversions are in place at the junctions at Tollcross, Earl Grey Street and Fountainbridge.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area for the time being.
