Warning on bogus callers

RESIDENTS have been urged to be vigilant against bogus callers over the Christmas period.

Scottish Water said the festive holidays often led to a rise in criminals pretending to be from the utility company to get into people’s houses.

Communities manager Bill Elliot said all employees carried identity cards, which householders should rigorously check before letting them in.

The firm is also providing anti-bogus caller packs, containing a personal alarm, window sensor and UV pen.
