Edinburgh Castle, Zoo, and Princes Street Gardens closed due to strong winds

A number of city attractions and public spaces are closed this morning due to high winds in the city.

Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Zoo, St Andrew Square Garden, and West Princes Street Gardens are all closed this morning.

A Castle spokesperson wrote on Twitter: "We are delaying opening of the castle due to the current weather conditions and are assessing the situation closely.

"We will keep you updated when we have more information."

Edinburgh Airport has said there are no current issues due to weather warning, but passengers are advised to check with airlines.

The Forth Road Bridge is currently closed to Double Decker buses, motorbikes, cyclists and pedestrians.

The A1 remains closed in both directions between Haddington and Thistly Cross.

There is currently a yellow Met Office weather warning in place for wind in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
