Edinburgh hour-by-hour weather: Storm Brendan aftermath brings windy start and heavy rain in the afternoon

The Capital has escaped the worst of Storm Brendan which hit the west coast yesterday.

Edinburgh's weather will settle down after a windy night and morning but heavy rain forecast for this afternoon.

The Capital will see some sunshine for a brief few hours this morning as the wind calms down and the sky clears.

However the temperature will feel cold, hovering around freezing due to the south westerly wind with gusts of up to 38mph.

Then, in the afternoon, commuters will be hit by heavy rain just as the rush hour gets underway.

Most of Scotland is affected by a yellow weather warning for either wind or snow and ice, but Edinburgh will escape the worst of the weather.
