Edinburgh weather: BT services down across parts of the city due to severe weather conditions

BT services are down across parts of the Capital after the city faced a night time of lightning, thunderstorms and severe flooding.

Customers have reported internet outages in Edinburgh, including the EH4 area, after the country was hit by a spell of extreme weather.

The signal fault is affecting resident’s broadband and wifi services in Scotland’s main cities including Edinburgh and Glasgow.

BT announced 64 per cent of its customers have reported an issue with their internet services in the last 24 hours.

A spokesman for the company confirmed the multinational telecommunications company is facing major outage issues in EH4 and services should be restored by Wednesday afternoon.

He said: “Following severe storms and flooding in Edinburgh last night, engineers are working to restore broadband to affected customers as soon as possible.

"We expect service to be restored later today. Phone and mobile services are not impacted. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
