A ‘thunder shower’ is set to hit Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon, experts have warned.

Met Office officials have updated their weather forecast for the Capital to include the thunder and rain combination at around 3pm today (Sunday).

The city is set for a wet day, with forecasters predicting rain from 11am through to around 6pm, with the stormy weather due to hit at around 3pm.

They also warn of a risk of hail in the day’s forecast.

The Met Office website says about today’s weather: “Sunny spells and scattered, often heavy, showers with a risk of hail and thunder.

“Strong westerly winds, easing down in the afternoon. Feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 17 °C.”
