Edinburgh weather: Heavy rain and gale-force winds set to hit capital as Scotland braces for Storm Brendan

Heavy rain and gale-force winds are expected in the Capital later today

Edinburgh will face heavy rain and gale-force winds this evening after an otherwise dry day.

Forecasts by the Met Office show that while flood warnings and a yellow weather warning for wind is in place for the rest of Scotland, the Capital will also see its fair share of nasty weather to begin the week.

Gusts of wind could reach speeds of over 50mph at around 4pm this afternoon and will stay high at around 40mph into the evening.

A fair start to the day will turn cloudy at around midday with rain beginning to fall at around 4pm.

Heavy rain will then follow before easing off into the night.
