Edinburgh weather: High winds batter Capital as gusts of over 40mph expected

The Capital is bracing itself for high winds on Tuesday as gusts of over 40mph are expected.

The chance of rain is slight for most of the afternoon, with a downpour expected around midday.

Despite sharp winds, the temperature will not drop below 13C.

The west coast of Scotland has been issued with a yellow weather warning from the Met Office, with heavy rain and flooding expected.

ScotRail announced on Tuesday morning that some of their services would be disrupted due to the weather, including the routes between Inverness and Edinburgh, and Inverness and Glasgow Queen Street.

Travellers are urged to be careful when on the roads or when taking public transport.
