Thunderstorms and lightning took hold of Edinburgh last night causing major flooding across parts of the city.

Dramatic footage has been released showing flashes of lightning brightening up the whole sky accompanied by loud rumbles of thunder.

The severe weather is expected to last throughout Wednesday with an amber warning in place for thunderstorms across the country, including Edinburgh.
