The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Scotland as heavy snow hit the capital on Monday.
In a video taken by local Matt Donlan, a red private hire vehicle can be seen skidding as it attempts to take the Royal Mile at around 8.15pm.
Eventually, a couple of friendly passers by jump in to push the car slowly up the hill.
The snow is set to continue through out Tuesday, as the weather warning remains in place.
A statement from the Met Office warns that anyone planning on travelling should exercise caution.
The yellow warning will remain until Wednesday, with a statement explaining: “Warning extended to end of Wednesday, with ice dropped in favour of snow being the primary hazard.
"Area extended westwards slightly across Northern England.”
