Edinburgh weather: This is when experts predict snow will fall in the Capital as the Met Office issues yellow snow and ice warnings
Edinburgh is likely to see scattered showers across the city today with heavy snow predicted later on in the week.
Today, temperatures are expected to stay below 1°C in the Capital with a slight chance of snow this morning and later on this evening at 6pm and 11pm with a chance of heavy snow showers in the early hours of Tuesday and Wednesday morning followed by sleet and rain.

Hide AdThe Met Office has commented that it will be ‘bitterly cold’ everywhere today and across the week in Lothian, Dumfries, Galloway and the Borders with fresh easterly winds and a maximum temperature 2 °C.
A cold night is predicted in Edinburgh tonight with a widespread frost and icy patches and minimum temperature -2 °C, however, temperature will feel like -5°, according to the forecasters.
The predicted cold and snowy conditions come as the Met Office issued a yellow warning of snow and ice – already in place – which will last until Wednesday, February 10 at 11.59pm in most eastern parts of Scotland including Edinburgh.
The initial yellow snow and ice warning which affects more of northern and central Scotland today will last until 11.59pm tonight and then shrink turning into a specific yellow snow warning which will affect most of eastern Scotland until Wednesday night.

Hide AdAreas affected by the yellow snow and ice warning throughout today include south west Scotland, Lothian Borders, Orkney & Shetland, Grampian, Central, Tayside and Fife, Highlands and Strathclyde.
Some roads and railways are likely to be affected by snowy and icy conditions in these areas with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
There is a small chance of longer travel delays in places with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are also expected with a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

A Met Office Spokesperson said: “Snow showers will feed off the North Sea into many northern and eastern areas of the UK.
"Whilst some areas in the warning area will remain largely dry, some persistent bands of showers are likely to develop in places.
"Widespread daily accumulations of 2-5 cm are probable, with 10-15 cm plausible in areas where showers merge into more organised and prolonged spells of snow.

Hide Ad"Icy stretches will likely form widely overnight, especially in areas where there has been a partial melt of lying snow during the daytime.”
On Monday, sunny intervals and scattered snow showers are expected in the east with the showers being most frequent in this area with just the odd flurry towards Dumfries.
The outlook for Tuesday to Thursday is bright spells with scattered snow showers for Lothians and the Borders with further accumulations, even to low levels, staying cold, sharp frosts at nights.
Snow showers will affect many northern and eastern parts of the UK, which may lead to travel disruption, according to the Met Office.
