Edinburgh weather: Yellow warning issued as heavy rain set to batter Capital

Scots have been told to expect heavy rain later this week as the Met Office imposed a Yellow warning over large parts of the country.

Highly populated areas including Edinburgh and Glasgow are included in the highlighted region, as well as Fife, Dundee, and Aberdeen.

The Scottish borders and the east coast are also likely to be affected.

Forecasters predict the wet weather will arrive during Tuesday and early Wednesday, and have warned of flooding and disruption to travel.

It comes just weeks after thunderstorms and heavy rain caused widespread flooding in Scotland, and severely damaged the country’s transport links.

In Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, tragedy struck when three people were killed as a ScotRail passenger train hit a landslide and was derailed.

And lines between Edinburgh and Glasgow have only reopened today after engineers were forced to repair damaged overhead cables and clear flood water from the tracks.
